Shelyn Students support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

On February 3rd we kicked off our annual Pennies for Patients fundraising drive. OUr goal this year is to beat last year's amount raised of $2500. After the first week we have collected $1211.24 towards Research into cures and support for patients fighting Leukemia and Lymphoma.
If we reach $3000 Mrs. Opatkiewicz will show the love by getting a Valentine's themed streak of hot pink in her hair. If our Shelyn Sharks go above and beyond to reach our goal of $5000 it will result in the public shaving of Mrs. Ruud's head in a show of empathy for the patients who often lose their hair during chemotherapy!! (Her idea!)
Many teachers are offering incentives for donations such as lunch with the teacher, chewing gum in class as well as other fun activities. On Friday, February 17th Mrs. Opatkiewicz will get "Stuck for a Buck" at lunch when she allows students and staff to stick her to the Quad wall as they get a yard of duct tape for every dollar donation.
Let's help our kids do good and make this the best Pennies for Patients yet!!
