An Update Regarding Our Students' Learning

Dear Shelyn Families,

We know that there are more questions than answers during this unprecedented time. Myself, my staff and our district support staff are working hard to enable some continuity of learning for our children.

Today teachers created learning plans for our students. Below is a brief description. A more detailed version will be posted here in the coming days.

This will be done in a variety of ways:

Through paper packets and materials sent home last Friday or mailed home this week.

Using online learning such as SeeSaw in grades TK-3 and Google Classroom in grades 3-6.

Some teachers may utilize Zoom for face to face learning or interaction with students.

All three of these platforms can be accessed through a smartphone, computer, chrome book or tablet.

We realize some of this learning will be a new experience for the adults and students. Please know we have resources to help you and us as we navigate.

If device or WiFi access is an issue please reach out to Shelyn staff and/or contact the RUSD Technology Support Hotline Mon-Fri, 8:00-4:00 at (626)854-8547.

I thank all of you who have reached out with messages of support and assistance. As Fred Rogers said, “ When I was a boy, I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

I hope we all continue to be helpers to one another and our community.

Take care and stay safe. I hope to see you all soon.
